Missouri offering refund debit cards to taxpayers | News
Missouri residents have a new option when it comes to getting their tax refunds.
State Treasure Clint Zweifel announce Friday taxpayers are now able to get a refund in the form of a debit card.
The option is available to taxpayers who file individual income tax returns or Property Tax Credit (PTC) claims either electronically or on paper.
To receive the card, taxpayers will need to check the “debit card” box located on the refund line of the tax return or PTC claim. After receiving the card in the mail, the recipient will have to activate it by phone or online and create a Personal Information Number (PIN).
The cards, which will be issued by JP Morgan Chase of New York, can be used for purchases or to get cash anywhere a Visa card is accepted. Zweifel says taxpayers can use the card to access cash without fees at UMB, MoneyPass and Chase ATMS.
Other refund options include a paper check mailed to a taxpayer or an electronic direct deposit into a bank account.
