MSHP reports 1 fatality during Thanksgiving holiday
Missouri highways were not as deadly this Thanksgiving as last year’s holiday weekend.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, just one person died during this year’s Thanksgiving holiday period.
From 6 p.m. Wednesday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday, troopers investigated 350 crashes, which included 140 injuries.
The lone fatal crash occurred Wednesday in Barry County. Austin C. Turner, 19, of Golden died when the vehicle he was driving ran off the left side of the road, struck a tree and burst into flames. Investigators say Turner was not wearing a seat belt. A passenger who was wearing a seat belt suffered minor injuries.
Last year four people died during the Thanksgiving weekend.
