Backpack bomb scare in Poplar Bluff | News
An abandoned backpack was responsible for a bomb scare Tuesday afternoon in Poplar Bluff.
Just after 2 p.m. police received a call of a suspicious package left unattended at the base of a railroad trestle in the 200 block of South Riverview Drive, according to Captain David Sutton.
A robot from the Southeast Missouri Regional Bomb Team was used to pull the backpack to a safe distance then dismantled with a water cannon.
Inside officers found clothing and assorted personal effects.
The owner of the package has not yet been identified.
