Crash sends one man to hospital, another to jail | Crime

A Region 8 man was charged with DWI after a crash Thursday night sent his passenger to the hospital.

Joshua L. Washburn, 18, of Doniphan was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving and minor visibly intoxicated.  He was taken to the Ripley County Jail and placed on a 12-hour hold.

The crash happened at 11:30 p.m. on Highway 142, one mile east of Doniphan.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Washburn was westbound when his 2003 Toyota Celica drove off the roadway and overturned.

Washburn, who was wearing a seat belt was uninjured.

His passenger, 21-year-old Cameron C. Acosta of Doniphan, was airlifted to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  Investigators say Acosta was not wearing a safety device.
