Police chase ends with crash, suspect hospitalized | Crime
A police chase Wednesday night in Poplar Bluff ended with the suspect crashing into a mobile home.
The crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Butler County Road 4681.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Poplar Bluff police were chasing 30-year-old Benjamin Hillis when his 2008 GMC 1500 pickup truck failed to yield at a stop sign and ran off the road.
Hillis’s truck then hit a tree and collided with a park car before hitting a mobile home.
A tool box from the truck apparently flew out and struck another parked car.
Hillis, who was not wearing a seat belt, was airlifted to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau with serious injuries.
No word on why police were chasing him.
