Title (Max 100 Characters)
Remember the names Karemenah Adams and Alexa Miller. Some day you may see their names in lights.
These two Poplar Bluff High School students have been accepted into the Missouri Fine Arts Academy.
While others are lounging by the pool this June, the girls will attend intensive classes at Missouri State University in Springfield, perfecting their craft.
Alexa, who was nominated by her theater teacher Jo Nell Seifert, will study theater. The school’s director of vocal music, Brenda Allen, nominated Karemenah to study vocal music.
Both girls have made their mark already by appearing in several productions throughout the years. Alexa appeared in the plays Brighton Beach Memoirs, Blood Brothers, James and the Giant Peach, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. She was also part of the costume crew for Greater Tuna.
Karemenah has also had roles in the musicals Fiddler on the Roof, The Music Man and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. She has been selected for All-District Choir four times. In October, she was chosen to participate in the Quad State Choral Festival at Murray State University in Kentucky.
Both students are members of the Drama Club and the International Thespian Society. Karemenah is also a member of the Student Council and Concert Choir, while Alexa is a member of the Beta Club as well as a varsity cheerleader.
Karemenah is a sophomore and the daughter of Charles and Gabrielle Adams. Alexa is in her junior year and is the daughter of Mike and Kim Miller.
