2 Baxter Co. residents injured in crash

ISABELLA, MO (KAIT) – Two people from Baxter County, AR are recovering from a one vehicle crash in Ozark County, MO.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Mason Seay of Jordan and Haley Vincent of Norfork were traveling on U.S. 160 just east of Isabella Wednesday night.  Troopers state Vincent lost control of her car, went off the road, hit an embankment and then a tree.

The crash report states Vincent and Seay were not wearing seat belts.

Seay sustained serious injuries, while Vincent's injuries are listed as moderate.

Mo. misses out on uncollected Internet sales taxes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Researchers say Missouri misses out on millions of dollars each year in tax revenue that could be collected on Internet sales.

The Kansas City Star reports that Missouri is 1 of the U.S. states that haven't signed onto a 1999 agreement to simplify and encourage voluntary collection of sales taxes by e-commerce retailers. About 1,400 retailers voluntarily collect sales taxes under the agreement.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s efforts to reduce fatal traffic accidents apparently paid off.

According to Captain Dwayne F. Isringhausen, there were no fatal traffic crashes reported in Troop G during the Christmas holiday.

Troopers did investigate nine traffic crashes, including two alcohol-related crashes. 

During the C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) Life Savers Weekend, Troop G also made 3 DWI arrests and 4 drug arrests.  They also issued 200 citations for speeding, 66 seat belt citations and 10 child restraint citations.

Missouri to begin issuing new driver's licenses

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri drivers will see changes in their driver's licenses beginning this year.

The Department of Revenue says new licenses will have security features such as special printing, laser perforations and bar codes. The state says the changes are designed to protect the owner's identity and fight fraud.

The state also plans to issue temporary licenses at licenses offices, and drivers will receive their permanent licenses in the mail seven to 10 days later.

And drivers under the age of 21 will get vertical licenses.

A six-year-old girl was hospitalized Monday afternoon when she was hit by a car.

It happened at 1:15 p.m. on Missouri Highway 21, six miles northeast of Doniphan.

According to Corporal T. W. Lee of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, six-year-old Abigail Przeslakowski of Doniphan apparently ran in front of a 2006 Chevy Impala driven by 54-year-old Debbie L. Wiktorek of Grandin.

Przeslakowski was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

SE Mo. man dies after being shot while hunting

DEXTER, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say a 32-year-old southeast Missouri man died after being shot while hunting.

The Stoddard County sheriff's office says the Poplar Bluff man was shot Monday morning while duck hunting in a boat near Dexter. He died Tuesday at a Cape Girardeau hospital.

The man was hunting with one other person.

KFVS reports the sheriff says an investigation is continuing but the shooting appears to be an accident.

The hunter's name wasn't released.
